Closing date confirmed for three recycling centres in Bradford

Bradford Council has announced the permanent closure of three waste recycling tips, effective from March 31st. The affected sites include Ford Hill in Queensbury, Sugden End in Keighley, and Golden Butts in Ilkley. The decision to close these facilities is expected to result in annual savings of £900,000 for the cash-strapped council.

The closures are part of Bradford Council’s broader plan to implement £40 million in service cuts, a move that has recently been confirmed. According to the council, the selected sites were deemed the “least used” among the waste recycling tips in the district.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, representing Bradford Council, acknowledged the discontent among residents regarding these closures. She emphasized that while the council regrets the necessity of these cuts, the challenging financial situation mandates their implementation. Ferriby stressed the council’s commitment to managing its financial constraints while striving to maintain essential services for the community.
